Important info on Toy Breeds

Hi this is a page I would like to have Helpful info for you to know to help you with your new TOY BREED PUPPY. This is some info I give with my puppies to help you and the puppy have a happy start together.

This I hope will help you with your puppy. He/She needs to eat at least 3 maybe 4 times a day as they eat small amounts at one sitting. With Toy Breeds they are small and they don't know they should stop and eat to keep the sugar levels normal. That is why they need to eat more times a day for at least the first couple of weeks after they leave their home. Once they get into the routine it will get better. If you have Nutri Cal or Nutri Stat I fine if you use a syringe and put about 1 CC full  that should be good ( you may have to see how much they will take ). Give that to them  at least two times a day if he/she is eating good you can for a few weeks give it in the morning and at bed time that way the sugar levels are not low and when you wake up you will have happy little puppy. If he/she is not eating a lot then give this to them at least 3 times a day. It take them till they are 12 to 16 weeks old for a puppy to have their sugars levels to regulate so this way of doing it as above is to help the puppy out till then. It will get better you just have to look at this puppy as being a New Born baby that needs your help for a little while. This does not always happen I just want this as a help you guide of just in case. Its best to know then Not to know. PLEASE if you have a puppy  that has gone down ( very lifeless) wants to sleep to much not get up don't wait call your Vet  Low Blood sugar can get so low that you can lose a toy puppy to Low Blood sugar. This is simple, if you make sure you puppy is eating and you give the Nutri cal you should not have a problem.

THIS IS HOW I FEED MY PUPPIES:

I start my puppies on soft food (dry food soaked with water to soften) I do mix a small amount of can with it. I will do this till about age 7 weeks then I add a bowl of dry also and will mix can to that also. By the time they are 8 weeks old they will be on dry food ( the only way I would not have a puppy at 8 weeks old not on just dry is if I have a very tiny puppy) When a puppy first leaves the Dam and its Littermates the puppy will miss them so she may cry some just be patience she will adjust.

All my puppies are raised inside my home Never outside. I start them on paper training and when they leave they are at least 50 to 75% paper trained. When its time for bed I have a night light and they know when the lights are turned off the go to sleep and when my alarm goes off they are up and ready for the day. I have had so many new owners say theie puppies do great when they go to the new home as when the lights go off they goe to sleep all night. Now all puppies are not alike but I have had happy owners with their puppy.

Some times you will get a puppy that is a finicky eater after they go to the new home the Nutri Cal is a good thing to have on hand as its a High Calorie Food Supplement with the Omega Fatty Acides for the finicky eater it also is a energizer for the puppy if they do not eat well. I have had tiny puppies that will get finicky and I have bought every can food under the sun LOL. I do find they like the Little Ceasers, you can also use the Toddlers Chicken Sticks too they love that high in Protien too.

           SHOTS AND WORMINGS:

My puppies are wormed with Pyrantel 50 starting at the age of 2 weeks and then every 2 weeks after that till they are gone to their new home. The Shots are started at age 6 weeks and I use GALAXY DA2PPV  for my puppies. Puppies should have their shots every 3 weeks from the age of 6 weeks to 14 to 16 weeks old ( every vet is different on the shot routine ). Your puppy is NOT fully PROTECTED agaisnt the dog diseases such as Parvo, Distemper, ETC. until the puppy has had all 4 sets of shots. So please don't bring your puppy to the park, beach, rest stops and so on as you do not know what animal or pet has been their and maybe has one of these bad things and your puppy can get it if it does not have all sets of shots.

I hope this was some good info for you and Know its really not hard to own a TOY BREED I just wanted to place this here as a what if to help you.

I DO NOT SELL ANY PUPPY OR DOG TO A PUPPY MILL, BROKER OR TO ANY PET STORE. I WILL NOT DEAL WITH A SECOND PARTY EITHER.

Thank you and have a great Day.
